It was getting rather hot this afternoon. When I sought it, my fan was mysteriously MIA. So, I decided to install the cheap, ghetto swamp cooler I own.
I opened the box (after disassembling my desk, of which it was a crucial support member) and tried to hoist it out... only to promptly slice open my fingers on the radiator fins. It was like a series of regular papercuts, only done by metal. As I applied multiple bandages, I realized the bitch was going to put up a fight.
I don't like to lose, especially to a cheap chinese swamp cooler. So, my next move was to extract it from the box simply by rotating it 180 degrees. It landed with a satisfying THUMP - thank you, gravity.
Then I spent ten minutes head-scratching and trying to figure out how it fit into the window, only to realize I seemed to be missing some crucial components. Most importantly, every screw I had for it was the wrong size. I wound up drilling and re-tapping the bitch, so I could use some others I had onhand. I hope it felt a lot of pain.
Eventually, I got it in.
I am currently enjoying a lovely cool room, sipping ice water, and listening to "Mr Frosty" from the Mike & Rich album.
Victory is sweet - and comfortably cool. |

...here is an anecdote from my (actually somewhat boring) life.
I went to the liquor store to buy a handle of vodka, as I had my doubts regarding red bull's mixability with gin (I later wound up using cranberry juice instead of red bull anyways, but that's besides the point). The lady at the register had funny teeth and started asking me about where I worked and shit. In my haste to escape the barrage of smalltalk, I forgot I'd paid with a credit card, and almost left without signing the recipt - of course she stopped me, and I signed that bad boy. O yea, kool aid.
Moments later, I edged out of the parking lot, checking to see if there were any cars coming down before turning out. There were not, but there were two junior high/high school age chicks looking all like HAY WERE GONNA CROSS IN UR PATHS - but not doing so, more just standing there and looking at me. Seeing that they were not going to walk in front of my vehicle, and the road was clear, I executed my right turn. I went down the road fifty feet or so, then took a left turn into another intersection, and awaited an opening slot for a left turn with growing impatience. Cars were a-goin' somethin' furious both directions, and so I wound up sitting there for thirty seconds or so.
I then noticed, in that thirty seconds, the two chicks had reappeared in the EXACT same position relative to my car that they had been before, and now seemed to be debating something. It was not exactly an intersection designed for foot traffic, and I couldn't think of anywhere they'd be going to. I had the bad feeling I was about to be hit up with a HAY DID U JUST BUY TEH BOOZES!~??
I hastily abandoned the left turn plan, made a right turn, and took the highway home instead. Now, before any of you chew me out for missing out on a perfectly good threesome, I must state:
A) They were definitely too young to drink.
B) They were probably young enough to get me arrested.
C) They weren't that attractive.
